Whirlwind

It’s almost September!  I can’t believe it….where did my summer go?  This reminds me of those little mini whirlwinds that comes up on those hot summer days.  They come in instantly, blow hard and fast, and then just as suddenly they are gone.  This is how my summer seems to have gone.  Yet I enjoyed the ride for the most part.

In fact there are a number of photographs that I’d like to share so I guess I’ll be doing that here in the future.

One of the big photograph events I covered was at the BHBFTA Show that was held in Thermopolis Wyoming a couple of weeks ago.  I’ve been busy sorting all of those Big Horn Basin Foxtrotter Show pictures to make it easier for the customers to look at.  They will be sorted by rider numbers/names so it will be much easier to look at.  Hopefully in the next few days I will have it done and get them posted onto my site.   This show was a new challenge for me because it was held at an indoor arena.  So I got to try my skills for indoor photography.  Overall I’m pleased with the way they turned out considering everything.

One of the other events I love to cover is the Moonrock event held in Worland Wyoming.  It’s taken place this very weekend but sadly I’m not able to make it this year.  It’s one I love to cover because there are some awesome riders there!  Hopefully next year!

Right after the BHBFTA show our family took off for a trip to see family out in Bowler Wisconsin.  My daughter wanted her senior pictures taken there in Bowler.  My Auntie Colleen showed us an awesome spot and of course we had fun with it.  My auntie said it was like I had walked into a “Candy shop” because of all my ‘ahhhs and wows and we’ve gotta try this”!  I’ll be posting those after Amber selects her top favorites.

On the way there we stopped in to see my husband cousin Chris and his little family in Minnesota (outside of Alexandria).  It was a great place to stop in for about an hour or so for a break since we were driving straight through.  Of course as a photographer you can’t miss opportunities of capturing pictures of cute kids and family.  So naturally I took some quick pictures (my family didn’t think it was too quick-hee hee) of this cute family.  So today I’ll share them.  There weren’t so many to choose from so it was fast to choose from, edit, and post.  So enjoy.

Gleneske Family Postcard Picture Design

Using the collection of my favorite pictures I created this postcard using all of my digital scrapbook design skills to create this cute card.  Some of these digital papers and elements will be offered for sale at my scrapbook site in the future.

Here is the pictures posted separately.

Anniversary Day

Yesterday was my Anniversary.  It’s hard to believe that it was 27 years ago that we got married.  Little did we know what we did to our parents when we picked “our day” so close to Christmas.  Well now we are getting paid back.  Would I change it?  No, not at all.

The other day I was visiting with my dear mother-in-law and we were commenting on December weddings.  Why?…because weddings in December seem to be a family tradition that is being carried on.  My in-laws got married right after Christmas.  We got married right before Christmas and now my son is getting married right after Christmas.  We laughed saying “pay backs” will come to them someday.

Would I have my son move the wedding date?  Absolutely not!  It adds a lot to the “to do list” but I’m soooo happy for them and support them fully.  So am I getting everything done on my “to do list”?  Absolutely not, but it’s ok.   As to celebrating “our” anniversary…it was in a small but meaningful way.  We’ll take time to celebrate it later when things slow down some.  We know we have each other and grateful for each day we have together.

Here is a scrapbook page I created for our 25th wedding anniversary.

Here is another page created using the same scrapbook kit featuring our Wedding Day.  I’ve made more but I’ll just show the one.

Things I’m Thankful For This Year

This year I’m grateful that we have been able to pay our bills in spite of hubby being laid off for nearly 9 months and really no savings to rely on. Yes, we’ve had to cut way back and do without things.

I’m grateful to have been able to find work, have the health I’ve had to do the work I’ve done, and strength to do all the roles I’ve taken on. (maybe not like I’ve planned).

Thankful of unselfish children who has taken the changes with admirable strength of character.  Thankful for the kindness of people around us.

I’m thankful most of all for a higher power that has taught me to be humble, trust, have faith and patience.

Thankful for…

Yes, in many ways it can seem cliche but oh how far it is from that!  I am truly grateful to have a good devoted, kind, loving husband. I feel so blessed to have the good children I do. Each holds a very special spot in my heart.

I love my daughter in law and my soon to be daughter in law. I feel so blessed to have the parents I do. I have always felt of their love towards me. They have taught me so many things like honesty, kindness, to work hard, to enjoy life, to laugh, etc.

Then to have the in laws I have. They are wonderful. I only hope that I can be an in law like they have been to me. They have always praised me, my parenting skills, etc…they always lifted me. I’m grateful that we live where we do, surrounded by such good people.

Thankful for Childhood Memories

As a kid I always looked forward to the day for many reasons. One is that I got off of school (which I must admit I liked), that I got to spend time with my favorite cousins and play, eating all this wonderful food including all the yummy pies.

Some years we would travel to NM to visit my mothers family there.  I loved that too. It was always fun to go to my Grandparent’s place. In fact I have alot of memories from those trips.  It would include traveling in the middle of bad storms in WY, CO, UT, and NM.

Then one year my parents took us to Disney land during the Thanksgiving break. What fond memories to have.

Thanksgiving Week

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thanksgiving

Looking up the meaning of things can be interesting.  So I did a google search on Thanksgiving and came across the link above.  Here is some of what it said, “Thanksgiving Day is a harvest festival. Traditionally, it is a time to give thanks for the harvest and express gratitude in general. It is a holiday celebrated primarily in the United States. ….Thanksgiving dinner is held on this day, usually as a gathering of family members and friends.”

So I thought it would be appropriate to blog a little something about my feelings on the subject this week.

Family Pictures

Tanya was so amazing!  The decision to get family pictures was made at the last minute.   Of course, we were loosing light quickly as it was getting to be dusk.  She was able to get everyone moving, changed, and ready in such a short time.  To top it off she she even had matching shirts on hand.  Fortunately they cooperated so well and moved so quickly that we were able to get several different family poses in!  Way to go Kevin and Tanya!

In these samples I thought it would be fun to show you different borders and how they can look with a photograph!  The right borders can really add to the photograph!  The same goes with a digital scapbook layout.

Digital Scrapbooking…

seems to go perfectly with digital photography.  Both are very addicting and fun.  Photography can be a form of artwork and of course so is digital scrapbooking.  Together they can make a fanastic display to enjoy.

Anyhow I was searching for a specific picture when I can across a scrapbook page that I did for one of my customers.  Of course, it just brought back a flood of memories.  Why?  Well for one thing these sisters was able to have FUN in spite of me taking pictures.  This doesn’t just happen with everyone…many seem to tense up in front of the camera.  So the pictures captured their fun at enjoying each other.

Then, this one sister wanted me to create a digital scrapbook page for her.  She gave me the colors she liked, pictures she selected, and then I worked on creating a page for her.  I loved the challenge and of course it made it sweeter when she LOVED and adored it.  That was SWEET!  Nothing better than making a customer happy.

Park County Fair

Recently I had a request for some pictures taken at the Park County Fair.  Anyhow it brought back some wonderful memories of this past summer.  The memories of the time spent with those that share the same interest as I.

In this case it was being owners of goats and parents of children.  Most parents of 4-H children is trying to help their kids to learn the value of something like caring for animals and the responsibilities it goes with it.

I enjoy visiting with the youth and parents that share the goat barn with us.  They are a great group of people in Park County. One of these young ladies happened to be holding and loving her baby goat alot.  It was the sweetest thing to watch the two together.  So naturally I had to take pictures.  So here is some pictures of her with her little baby goat.
